 :: What is Smardex?

Smardex is the Independent Smart Card Index. The word Smardex is simply a concatenation of the words Smart Card Index into one word or meme, and is a good indication of the ideas behind the site.

Smardex is an index of companies, resources, news and information centering around Smart Cards and Plastic Cards, and the attendant disciplines of Information Security, Biometrics, Electronic Transactions, Scanning Technology, RFID, Data Capture, and so on. As such, Smardex will provide a quick and easy way to find information on these subjects in an independent manner

By independent, I mean that Smardex is neither funded nor influenced by any interested parties or concerns within the industry. It is purely my pet project.

Basic listings in the Smardex Index are, and always will be, free.

 :: So, what is the history behind Smardex?

Smart Cards and I go back a long way. My first introduction to the world of Smart Cards was in 1997 when working on an Australian Electronics Magazine. I received a call from the then AIC Conferences, now Terrapinn, about supporting the upcoming 2nd Cards Australia Exhibition. We ran with the idea and the response was so successful that, we launched a new publication "Cards Asia-Pacific" in 1998 with Norrie Blackeby as the Editor, which was also a success.

Then both Norrie and I left the publisher and sadly the magazine was phased out. However, my interest has always remained although until now I have not had the time available to become involved in the industry again.

 :: Can I add my site to the Buyer's Guide?

At the present time I am not accepting submissions to the directory purely from a time management point of view. However, that will change in the future so please keep your eyes peeled.

Sure! I appreciate links from other web sites as much as anyone so feel free to link to Smardex if you wish.

 :: Does Smardex participate in Reciprocal Links?

The short answer is no. Smardex is an index giving links out to other sites and resources for free. Hopefully, as a result of that, Smardex will become in time a resource that other people will link to because they think it is a site worthy of a link in it's own right.
